Thoughtful Thursday #273 – My Birthday

Standard

My birthday was actually yesterday but I want to share some of my thoughts about it.

Today is my birthday, it was actually yesterday, and I am reminded of how lucky I am to be here. There are different ways of celebrating birthdays, cakes, candles, songs, presents, and there is a special belief in esoteric circles that for your birthday you get 10 wishes. Yes 10 wishes.

I wish for the customary things like money and good health for myself and family. Less fear more courage, less procrastination more action, less negativity more positivity.

I can write those wishes down on paper or say them out loud, I can petition the invisible wish guardians with all my concerns.

Burn bright, I ask the wish guardians, so I can see my way clear.

Open new possibilities and allow safe passage to new roads.

Clear my mind so I can be kinder and smarter to all beings.

These requests bring me to become very quiet to consider the present moment.

Right now, most of all, on this very blog, with such humble, open hearted, generous men and women I wish each and every one of you health, wealth, wisdom and peace and wondrous goodness. I hope that all your  wishes come true. And I sincerely thank you for being here and being part of my life and my birthday.

I Am Devoted To The Other Side

Standard

Because I have never gotten validated or
educated about living from another human being.

I have read inspirational things that
soothed me temporarily but
nothing has changed me as much
as being in contact with
the Other Side.

Hence, it sent me the most
difficult relationships and
compassionate encounters.

I questioned my sanity
until I saw the insanity of others.

I loved deeply that it hurt
until I saw love does not hurt.

I hated so hard that blood dripped from my eyes,
until the blood dried and I was numb.

I got the unexpected kind remark
needed at just the
right moment.

I tried to annihilate myself in every-way possible
until I realized I wasn’t even
good at that.

With arms outstretched to the sky
I begged for mercy
until I realized I have so much to be
grateful for.

So I stopped to try one more time
to find the answers.

The Other Side always answered.

The answers gave hope.
So I went on and on and on to live one more day.

My strength gathered one more day,
stronger one more day,
with deeper understanding.

Not even aware of it I traveled
on with my life half asleep and half aware.

Re-enacting every deep seated dysfunction
until I understood it.

That is the grace of the Other Side
The grace of Mother Nature.
The grace of Universal Intelligence.

It sends us messages of
what is out of balance.

It throws us face to face with our desires
our wishes, dreams and illusions.

Those that are repressed,
those that are obvious.
Exposes our blind spots.

The Other Side never gives up on us.
It is best we don’t give up on it.

David Richo – The Life Span of a Feeling

Standard

Here’s and excerpt from David Richo’s book: ” The Five Things We Cannot Change.”

“Fear of feelings bottlenecks us. We fear that a feeling may possess us and never calm down. Actually, a feeling wants to be over and done with. Feelings, like everything else in life, are ever-changing and impermanent.”

“This is how the cycle of a complete feeling experience flows through us:

A stimulus – arousal of a feeling – showing the feeling – cooling down – a calm openness to what may come next as we get on with life – readiness for the next stimulus and beginning again.”

I am paraphrasing the next three sentences.

We avoid feelings by numbing ourselves with busy – ness, alcohol, drugs, food or any other addiction.

Having more than one feeling come up at one time is common. Depending upon the level of grief there may never be a resolution.

So what is the next step. According to Richo it is to roll with the feeling. Don’t stop yourself from feeling anything.

I completely agree and add that feelings are your guideposts to healing. If you squash your feelings they will end up consuming you whether you like it or not. Give your feelings their space so they can express themselves. Let feelings do their job or they will interrupt your life until you do give them attention. Feelings bring you face to face with your deepest longing, wants, wishes, requests, cravings, needs, fears and yearning.

At some point you will recognize what your next step is. The next step is the one that will make you grow as a person. That’s a general statement but in your heart you will know what you need to do.

Go ahead, take that first scary step. You will not crumble.

You will thrive.

Thoughtful Thursday #39 Halloween

Standard

Halloween is the best day of the year for fun and imagination. Everyone has the chance to dress up and be a creature, superhero, witch, ghost, celebrity or whatever the mind can conjure.

I believe in all things spiritual. I believe in all things magical. I believe in the dark side and the light side. I believe in the power of healing.

Conjuring is about focusing your mind on some outcome. That’s the same as positive thinking and affirmations.

Looks like the ancients had this affirmation thing down to a science. Egyptians had spells for their journey to the underworld. The Tibetan Book of the Dead is a popular read and you can make your own conjure book.

So when you are out there trick or treating and conjuring wishes, please keep them on the positive side because that is all that matters. You wouldn’t want bad magic coming back to you ten fold.

Happy Halloween.

10 Wishes

Standard

Wishes may seem frivolous and childish but I tend to disagree.

Here’s why. Wishes are meaningful to the one making the wish. The wish could be for something good or something bad. They may happen or may not. I think that the good wishes have a really good chance of coming true especially if you send the wish to someone else. And thank our lucky stars that the last time you wished someone dead it didn’t happen.

So here are my 10 Wishes for you:

I wish you clarity of mind so you know clearly what you want.

I wish you good fortune so you can help yourself and others.

I wish you acceptance in your universe so you can accept others.

I wish you peace of mind for the next time you are challenged.

I wish your deepest desire to come true and I don’t mean money.

I wish you friendship and kindness so you can be a friend and kind.

I wish you a virtuous life so you can be a good example.

I wish you knowledge of yourself so you can understand others.

I wish you connection to others so others can connect with you.

I wish you open doors so you can open them to others.

Funny thing about wishes. When you send them out with goodness they will come true.

What are your 10 wishes?
