Old Friend

Standard

I have one friend from childhood. We met when I was 15 and he was 17. We used to play guitar and piano together. His family was wonderful. His voice was like velvet. We had tons of fun, and we were a couple for two years. He went his way, and I went mine.

We reconnected a few years later and the same thing happened.

It’s really strange because for the following years we ran into each other often. We could not get away from each other. We couldn’t be a couple for unknown reasons. But we always kept in touch with each other.

When his Mom passed away, we reminisced about how we all used to sing together. I said my goodbyes to this wonderful lady who really welcomed me.

Every year at Christmas we exchange Christmas cards and each year my dear friend would burn a CD for me of old movies and jazz music and other subjects we were always interested in. One year he sent me an old VCR tape of us at his house on Christmas with our families. I cried when I saw this. We were so happy.

This year I got my Christmas card with a CD and the only words on the card were “It’s been a rough year.”

I do keep in touch with his sister too and she said that my friend is suffering with back problems, blood problems and some other dangerous stuff. My friend does not want to need my help because he has a support system.

We don’t run into each other anymore. We have chosen to remember all the good times, the conversations, the connection we had in these past five decades.

I guess that is how it is when you finally get old enough to realize how much you really loved each other and how it is too late to have a life together.

I will always remember my dear friend and if we are lucky perhaps, we will meet in the afterlife.

Affirmations #18 Inner Child

Standard

The child in me is very much alive. It is a happy, joyous and fun loving child.

I have forgotten the sad past. I live in the happy present and a still happier future awaits me.

The child in me and I are one. We love each other, care for each other, appreciate each other and will always belong to each other.

Sometimes it’s painful dealing with our inner child but it’s a very important part of us. Write each one 10 times, say them many times during the day especially in the morning and bedtime, and in the mirror.

10 Wishes

Standard

Wishes may seem frivolous and childish but I tend to disagree.

Here’s why. Wishes are meaningful to the one making the wish. The wish could be for something good or something bad. They may happen or may not. I think that the good wishes have a really good chance of coming true especially if you send the wish to someone else. And thank our lucky stars that the last time you wished someone dead it didn’t happen.

So here are my 10 Wishes for you:

I wish you clarity of mind so you know clearly what you want.

I wish you good fortune so you can help yourself and others.

I wish you acceptance in your universe so you can accept others.

I wish you peace of mind for the next time you are challenged.

I wish your deepest desire to come true and I don’t mean money.

I wish you friendship and kindness so you can be a friend and kind.

I wish you a virtuous life so you can be a good example.

I wish you knowledge of yourself so you can understand others.

I wish you connection to others so others can connect with you.

I wish you open doors so you can open them to others.

Funny thing about wishes. When you send them out with goodness they will come true.

What are your 10 wishes?

Thoughtful Thursdays #9

Standard

Sometimes I am at a loss for words. But thank goodness that doesn’t happen often. I have lots to say and so many need to hear what I have said. This reminds me of a song:
I love Me.
I think I’m grand.
I go to the Movies just to hold my hand.
Me Me Me
I I I
Me Me Me
I I I
What am I getting at? It’s fun to use words in a playful way.Ever since I can remember I have tried to say one thing many ways. For example: I noticed the yellow floor. Or – the floor looks yellow. Or – Wow that’s a nice/ugly yellow floor.

So have fun saying stuff in many different ways. And don’t say anything insulting about yellow floors. At least not to their face.
