Happiness

Standard

Happiness means different things to different people. Happiness to me means peace of mind and doing my life’s work. I have the peace and am working on my life’s work of being and artist and writer. Sometimes I can’t trust certain people with my happiness and dreams. They will cut me down and make fun of me. I have experienced this many times and have decided that I really feel sorry for those that try to cut me down. (Emphasis on TRY). And I realize if someone is trying to cut me down I am already above them.  Now that’s happiness.Rock On.

Wise Words

Standard

“Life is inherently risky. There is only one big risk you should avoid at all costs, and that is the risk of doing nothing.” ~Denis Waitley

The Human Heart

Standard

The human heart is so easily broken. All it takes is one unjustified surprise to break it. Hearts can destroy just as easy as build. It’s wonder how one heart can even exist in a world of pain.

Sometimes our own fear takes over and it seems nothing is working.

The remedy: Stop the thinking. Detach and be very objective. Get a good nights sleep, get quiet, be very good to yourself and your knowing will kick in. Knowing the next step and the restoration of your peace of mind

Thoughtful Thursdays # 13

Standard

Hey Gang.

Yes it’s been a while since Thoughtful Thursdays was posted. Today’s post is about the Queensborough Public Library

I have loved the library since I was little. Every week since forever ( since I was little) I have taken out library books. Even today I took out books. This is my own public plug for all libraries.  Where can you get books Like Seth Godin’s enormous collection of business books? Or Christine Perillo’s cookbook series. And classics like Shakespeare, Dante, Madeline, Curious George, Dr. Seuss.

Any book I have an interest in I check with the library first. 99% of the time they have it. Right now I am reading Margaret Atwoods “Negotiating with the Dead” suggested reading from Stephen King’s book “On Writing”. Both books I got from the library.

With the onset of e books, Nooks, IPads and such the library is not going anywhere. They will keep up to date with technology for sure. There’s nothing like the comfort of knowing the library will continue to be around for a long time.

So go there, get a library card, meet the great people who work there, cool off or warm up. It’s a place to learn or just socialize.

Happy Reading.

Blame

Standard

There are occasions that all of us played a part in the blame for something. Our part in the blaming event has become hidden in forgetting what we did with whom. We cannot recall the events or actions of the time. Or maybe we have gone into denial of what was actually done.

It is helpful to be aware that an error in judgment or misunderstanding is more about choosing the wrong option at the time. As soon as you realize this it is your opportunity to change direction. Perhaps you are partly to blame. If so, admit it. At that moment you make the choice not to repeat the same mistake again.

If you make the choice not to repeat the same mistake and slip up, take heart and keep trying. You will succeed.

 Happy trying.

Freedom

Standard

In a very broad sense freedom is (according to the dictionary) is: The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. Freedom is also seen as free will.

New York City Weather

Standard

Here in New York City we haven’t had much of a winter. Not that I am complaining because we have had our share of bad winters. I’m sure we will have more normal winters but this year the jet steam has favored us. I noticed that the little green buds are already out on the bushes, crocus are already blooming and the trees are shedding winter and the wind is blowing the old winter air away. The weekend we turn the clocks forward.

Spring is here again. Time for new beginnings and happy endings. It’s time to start something new. To begin anew one must start small. Really small and build upon that. Like walking a little extra to move those tired bones. Swing those arms to get the blood flowing. Don’t worry about looking foolish, in fact, others will follow your lead.

Have you ever noticed, as soon as the weather gets nice, tons of people are out. Walking, running, biking, dog walking, shopping, chatting, gardening, car washing, deeply breathing in and out.

So get outside and do outside stuff. Before it rains.

Happy Spring.

The Holidays are over.

Standard

As much as I like the holidays I am always glad they are over. Too much work, stress and not enough resting. Now it’s back to a regular routine, work, bills and still no rest.

I am not a goal person. I just do what needs to be done and change what needs to be changed. So in the spirit of the new year it’s time for me to re-evaluate what needs to be changed and then just do it.

Happy New Year

Tired

Standard

I am so tired when I come home from my part time job as a delivery person. I deliver meals to seniors. Maybe you can guess the company. Well, I must say I am so tired at times I just sit around like a lump on a pickle instead of pursuing more creative things to do. I did manage to paint a small picture yesterday. Oh, I didn’t mention, not only do I write but paint too, and if time permits I sew and crochet. I am so happy when I am creating. Wish I could be creative all the time. Sigh.

Update: 2/13 I don’t work there anymore. Yeah

Thoughtful Thursdays #12

Standard

cI love the Fall. The air changes and the days are shorter. It’s cooler with a sprinkling of fading summer. The leaves are changing. This beautiful weather temporarily makes me forget the bills, the job, the lack of sleep and the running around.

It’s those small moments of being in nature that breaks up the whirling of my mind on secondary nonsense and is a reminder that feeling grounded and at peace are most important.

March on Fall. Colder and colder. Red, green, gold leaves falling and swirling in the wind bringing us closer to winter. Warm jackets, hot chocolate and soup. Crafting indoor happiness and wearing hats almost stolen by the wind. Soon to be barren trees and preparing for Christmas.

Remember the Fall as comfortable and lovely and arrives only once a year.
Absorb Fall and it will change you. Love the Fall and it will love you back.

Bye Bye I’m going back outside.
