Thoughful Thursdays # 104 – Growing

Standard

It’s not easy to change. Most of the time it is our habits that get in the way. We know it’s time to change and begin something new.

This is where we must refuse to back down from our own intimidating thoughts that have become a bad habit. We must begin a ” I can do this” belief. We must adopt a ” I can figure this out” mindset as a habit.

Aren’t you at the very least curious about what you can accomplish? Our lives are layered in preferences. Pay attention to your preferences they are talking to you.

Look ahead, not back. Get rid of what is not working, Go forward, learn something new, meet new people, get out of your comfort zone. Create the next new better version of yourself.

You are worth it. And as a result you will grow into the person you are meant to be.

Thoughtful Thursdays #103 – Worry

Standard

Who told you to worry?

Who said you can not stop worrying?

Worry is stressful. Worry tenses the body and causes pain.

Most of the stuff you worry about never happens.

Worry puts you on the path of over thinking, panic, the downward spiral of depression. In no time at all you will be paralyzed.

As soon as you start to worry, replace the thoughts with positive gentle words. At first your mind will fight you. Soon you will see that worrying is just a habit and habits can be changed.

Worry is just fear. You are stronger than any fear.

For one day say nothing negative about yourself in your thoughts or out loud. Then try it for another day, and another and another until it becomes a habit.

Have patience, it takes time to change a negative habit into a positive habit.

You can do it. Just try.

Thoughtful Thursdays #102 Trauma

Standard

“Trauma survivors have symptoms instead of memories.” (Harvey, 1990) Adapted from Bremner & Marmer, 1998, Copyright 2007 Dr. Fisher

Trauma comes in many forms. Violence of any kind, addictions in both the user and observer, unavailable caregivers, isolation, and poverty are just a few ways of experiencing trauma.

Trauma is toxic mentally and physically because it stops you from maturing and living a full life.  The symptoms of trauma are depression, irritability, loss of interest, numbing, decreased concentration, insomnia, emotional overwhelm, hopelessness, shame and worthlessness, little or no memories, nightmares, flashbacks, hyper-vigilance, mistrust, anxiety, panic attacks, chronic pain, headaches, substance abuse, eating disorders, feeling unreal and out-of-body, self-destructive, loss of a sense of “Who I am”.

That’s a lot of information and possible triggers but they are symptoms of something that holds you back. Trauma effects everything you do with and without your awareness.

To heal from trauma is obvious. Find a trauma therapist. There are tons of information available to read and passionate therapists who want to help you heal.

If you realize you have been a victim that’s good. You will move from victim to survivor to one who thrives to a warrior.

You are strong, reach out and heal.

The Sins of the Father Explained

Standard

The Sins of the Father are not an ancient curse. It is the human condition of repeating the same old negative patterns over and over for generation after generation.

For example, pervasive abuse on any level will stay intact as long as the abuse is seen as normal. Many times abuse is accepted as a way of life. As if there is no other way of living. Therefore, the cycles of abuse remain for a long time, until someone finally realizes this is enough.

Family systems are complicated. People are complicated. Humans are a product of habit and fear.

Except when whether in secret or out in the open someone reaches out for a better way of living. Eventually the cycle is broken.

All it takes is some courage, please try. You know in your gut what you need to move forward. Please try to have the courage to break the cycle of abuse.

Thoughtful Thursdays # 101 – Bravery

Standard

True bravery is letting go of what is familiar.

True bravery is trying new things.

True bravery is living closest to your heart’s calling.

True bravery is leaving what is not working.

True bravery is telling yourself the truth.

True bravery is no following the crowd.

There are many reasons to stay stuck, to get unstuck start small. The change will feel uncomfortable. That’s OK. Just sit with it.

Commitment

Standard

I am not going to preach about commitment. Most of the time I am not very good at it unless it is really important or necessary.  I usually focus on what I can get by with.

It is common to focus on the small window of activities in our lives because we are so busy doing actions to keep our heads above water.

Is society the cause? Is the economy the cause? Is  fear the cause? Distractions? There are as many reasons and justifications as there are people.

For me, I am willing to commit to situations I either love or really enjoy or as a result of a crisis.  Is that enough, probably not because I stay in my comfort zone. Let’s be reasonable. How much time does one have in a day.

The solution is to make an effort to get out of one’s comfort zone. Easier said than done. But so noticeable necessary.

Just try……..that’s the only requirement in a commitment.

Thoughtful Thursdays # 100 – 100 Positive Words for You

Standard

You’re the best. You are great. Believe in yourself. There is always a way to figure things out. You are not helpless or hopeless.

You are smart and grounded.  You are protected. You are cared for. You  are lucky. Anything  is possible. You are growing all the time.

Don’t force anything just keep moving. You are a winner.  What someone else believes about you is none of your  business. Focus on your own life. Use your talents and  skills  to improve your  own life.

Challenges will come and  you  will get  through them.  You have  everything you need to  succeed.

Thoughtful thursdays #99-Free Thinkers

Standard

How much of your day is occupied with playing it safe? Are your thoughts about taking the easy way out? Or are you thinking of different possibilities?

Free thinking is about thinking out side of the mainstream. It is thinking about the many different ways there are of tackling an issue.

Thinking in a new way is not only for solving problems. It is for changing, upgrading and getting in sync with a new quality in your life. A new quality like peace and happiness, a vocation to live for, a mission to accomplish, a new outlook, a more truer to who you are life.

Just think about what you want. Write it down. Don’t expect change right away. Take your time because the road is never straight when change is around.

Think Away!!

Thoughful Thursdays – #98 – No Obstructions

Standard

If you had no obstruction inward or outward and  no obtrusive thoughts, what would you do with your life?

1. what would you do for a living?

2. where would you spend your time?

3. would you travel?

4. would you spend time learning about yourself and all the parts you have neglected?

5. would you write a book or read all the books that you are interested in?

6. where would you live?

7. what would you change?

8. would you create a new life based on your loves and likes?

9. would you become a hermit and meditate on life’s mysteries?

10. would you be afraid of your new-found freedom?

Make a list. It’s usually the last things on your list that are the truest because your ego wants to be first.

Happy freedom and discovery.

Thoughful Thursdays #96 – Signals

Standard

We live such small lives compared to what we are capable of. We become complacent and stay in our comfort zone. We wish and long for other things we think are better for us but do nothing to change our lives.

There are signals that crop up from time to time ushering us to move in a certain direction. Focus on the signals, this is the easy way to change.

Signals come from a chance meeting, words in a book, something said, inspiration, serendipity, these are just a few signals,  Pay attention to the signals, they are there for you to act upon. You are being led and sent to your next destination.

You can be led willingly or kicking and screaming. It is up to you.

This destination may not be conventional. You may not understand it in the beginning.

Sometimes there is no logic, no reason, no guideposts as to where you are being led and that is OK.

This destination is only for you, no one else. Relax and enjoy the ride. You will arrive when its necessary.
