Thoughtful Thursdays #26

I ran across the mention of a Tibetan yogini by the name of Machig Labdron. She lived in Tibet from 1055 CE to 1149 CE.  You can Google her is you want to know more about her fascinating life. She is known for the following 5 sayings. To practice all of them covers just about every aspect of negativity that holds you back. If you practice them you will become brave and confident. Guaranteed.

 1. Confess your hidden thoughts.  (This is not the same as confessing to a priest. It is acknowledging what is bothering you. You can write or tell someone, it’s up to you).

2.Approach what you find repulsive.  (For example, you see a dirty, homeless person and you are repulsed. Try looking at that person instead of ignoring them)

3.Help those you think you cannot help. (For example, speaking to someone who can’t help himself or herself like a struggling addict).

4.Anything you are attached to, give it back. (This means, instead of being so attached to something that it obstructs your life, let it go and trust that if its meant to stay it will).

5.Go to places that scare you. (That job interview, new places, eating alone in a restaurant, speaking up, the cemetery or any place that creeps you out. Not unsafe situations).

This practice is easier said than done most of the time. Because life has a way of keeping certain issues in front of you time and time again. Those issues will stay there until you face them. These sayings or method of eliminating stressful issues will work if you try them.

Happy hunting down those pesky stubborn issues that won’t go away and dissolving them.

Thoughtful Thursday #15

Among other bizarre things that are happening in my life my youngest pet cat Munchkin got sick. She was nine years old. She got sick suddenly. I noticed yesterday that she was lethargic and not eating and seemed to have lost so much weight. I thought she caught a stomach virus from drinking out of my dog’s water bowl. Then I worried she had something worse.

My daughters and I took her to the vet and the prognosis was grim. She apparently had heart disease and her body made clots, which traveled and clogged the blood flow to her legs. There we were in the exam room crying and watching her slowly pass away from lack of blood to her heart. The doctor said she was in pain and there were not too many options for her recovery. We opted to put her to sleep. She died peacefully.

How very sad to watch an animal you care so much about die. After she pass away we sat in the exam room for a long time crying, petting her, kissing her, carrying her and telling her how much we love her. We told her what a good girl she is. We held her and looked at her lifeless body. We told her we were sorry about her being so sick.

After a long while we had the nurse shave some hair from her neck. She put it in an opaque tan pill bottle. We chose the individual cremation so we can take her ashes home and still have her with us. Plus a paw print.

I just wanted to say to you Munchkin how much we all love you and will miss you tremendously. That loud meow. The running away from us when we tried to catch you. Watching you sit by the window in the sun. Sometimes you would sit for so long just looking at the activity outside. Or curl up on the cushion at the windowsill and sleep so contently. Catch flies and run after toys. Scratched the heck out of the windowsill sharpening your nails.

I hope we were a good family for you and hope you were happy with us. We certainly enjoyed every minute with you. In the spirit land of kitties we hope you are relieved of your pain and are sweetly happy. We will always love you Munchkin and remember you.

We are already preparing a place for Munchkins remains. We have pictures and candles ready for her return. With the raw emotions my daughters and I feel we need this ritual to help us through this mourning period. I look forward to her return even if its in a different form.

To our darling sweet Munchkin we love you forever.

Love

What a loaded subject. There are so many different definitions of love that no one knows for sure what it means. Love is defined as physical attraction, falling in love with the shoes in a department store window, a pet, a person, a lifestyle, an emotion, the list is endless.

I am now going to put an end to all false notions of what love is. Here goes:

Love is an attitude. It’s the choice to be kind hearted even when others are not.

Chew on that for a while.

Henry the Little Bear

Standard

Once upon a time there was a little brown bear. His name was Henry. Henry loved to spend his days in the Spring flower beds. He would pick pink, green, yellow and blue flowers for his Mom. His Mom loved every flower Henry brought home. Henry found honeycomb with sweet honey. The honey spilled on his chin. Mom brought the honeycomb home for a sweet treat. Henry counts butterfly’s. One, Two, Three. Oh, one landed on his nose. Gentle butterfly. A ladybug sits on a green leaf and wavers hello to Henry. “Hello” says Henry. It’s time for bed. Mom has made a soft bed of pillows and toys. “Good nite Henry, I love you.” said Mom. “Good nite Mom, I love you too Mom.” said Henry. He fell fast asleep.

I am now going to put an end to all false notions of what love is. Here goes:

Love is an attitude. It’s the choice to be kind-hearted even when others are not.

Chew on that for a while and you will see that situations mentioned on the endless list eventually fade because people are moody and fashions go out of style and life flows and is not static. However the one thing that will remain the same and have permanent impact is choosing loving kindness. Kindness to anyone or anything ripples positive personal power. Kind-hearted love reaps permanent change and brings us all closer to each other, cooperative and happy. Loving kindness creates trust. Choosing this kind of love will make you a hero to those who know you. This love is free and easy to apply. Just like jam on bread. Sweet and tender like a baby.

So try it. Choose to be loving for just one day and see the difference. And this love will come back to you many times over.

Thoughtful Thursdays #9

Sometimes I am at a loss for words. But thank goodness that doesn’t happen often. I have lots to say and so many need to hear what I have said. This reminds me of a song:
I love Me.
I think I’m grand.
I go to the Movies just to hold my hand.
Me Me Me
I I I
Me Me Me
I I I
What am I getting at? It’s fun to use words in a playful way.Ever since I can remember I have tried to say one thing many ways. For example: I noticed the yellow floor. Or – the floor looks yellow. Or – Wow that’s a nice/ugly yellow floor.

So have fun saying stuff in many different ways. And don’t say anything insulting about yellow floors. At least not to their face.
