Bodhisattvas work for the benefit of others in eleven ways:
- befriending the friendless;
- counseling the confused;
- helping the helpless;
- protecting the fearful;
- comforting the grieving;
- sharing with the destitute;
- mentoring those who seek spiritual guidance;
- accompanying those traversing the path;
- praising the prudent;
- admonishing the rash; and
- subduing those who will not yield to good counsel.
